Porous Adsorbents for Selective Gas Separation

Abstract: 

Metal-organic frameworks and porous organic polymers are emerging materials with broad potential for applications such as gas adsorption and separation, catalysis, and sensing. Their suitability as porous adsorbents is attributed to their high surface area, ease of pore structure modification, and tunable pore surface characteristics that enhance functionality. Our research focuses on developing porous adsorbents that can efficiently and selectively separate small, industrially and environmentally significant gases like CO₂, NH₃, and H₂. By precisely controlling the pore size and surface properties of these materials, we aim to optimize their gas separation performance. In this seminar, I will discuss our progress in advancing separation science by incorporating functional ligands into adsorbent platforms, which in turn impart desirable pore surface properties for selective gas separation.
